How Old is old….
And a Few Extra Nice Words can help too!
Do you like sodas?
I like them, but I don’t have to drink them. Although I am not a coffee drinker, sometimes I just want half a bottle of Pepsi Zero to get me through the afternoon or to drink with pizza or a hamburger. Now bread items are homemade in our house for both of us to eat (buns and pizza dough, too), and it’s great to see my dear hubby’s eyes light up when I take the time to make them from scratch. But the eyes of a Japanese guest’s eyes can become quite large with surprise when I pull out a 16-inch homemade pizza from our American oven, which I only use on special occasions after all these years.
Smiles are great moral boosters, aren’t they! Bringing a smile to anyone’s face, beginning with my hubby’s, is just a daily goal. And there are smiles I GREATLY MISS and so rarely get to see—you can guess that it would be our kids and grandkids’ smiles. Such a simple thing but so very precious.
I also know those in the customer service industry, whether behind a counter or on a phone call, might rarely be told they are doing great. It’s just expected that they are. So I try to make it a point, being the Japanese like English (just don’t speak it), to say to them “have a nice day” as I take my purchase and leave. Sometimes they answer back; sometimes they laugh, but they usually, at least always, smile! Are you aware of how others serving you are doing? Can you bring a smile to their face?
Well, in the Bible the word ‘smile’ isn’t used specifically, but the same message of joy is represented. So I do want to bring joy to my Savior’s countenance and cause his face to shine upon us.
Numbers 6:25: “The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:”
Psalm 67:1: “God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.”
